MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN, Oct. 25 (PIA 10) — A new batch of tour guides recently completed the two-day local tour guiding seminar initiated by the provincial tourism office (PTO) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) region 10.
Apart from the basic theory, participants were likewise required to undergo the practical tour guiding demo or mock tour.
The local tourism office here has been encouraging all potential tourist guides to submit into this kind of training in order to professionalize the manpower involved in tour guiding.
Training fee is P800.
PTO said all interested applicants for future training must be well acquainted with the island’s major tourist attractions, and preferably those with tour guiding experience.
It likewise offers basic food service and frontline service training/seminars.
Accredited tour guides here in the island have already formed their association and were granted projects and have become an active partner of the government in coastal and protected areas management.
Manny Palarca Daleon of the Camiguin Host Tour Guide Association said tour guiding help provides alternative source of income for the unemployed. (PIA 10)
