Camiguin has new, bigger disposal facility for healthcare wastes


MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN, Jan 14 (PIA) — Camiguin has opened a new and bigger disposal facility cell for healthcare wastes.

The Camiguin Solid Waste Sanitary Landfill Management and Research Development Project is in compliance with Republic Act 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management), Dr. Sabdullah C. Abubacar, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environment and Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) Region 10 drector said. 

Abubacar said putting up the facility was a wise investment for the city so that it can handle hospital and hazardous waste management. He noted that many local government units’ (LGUs) are reluctant to fund such facility. 

The sanitary landfill will also accommodate wastes generated from the households, commercial establishments and institutions around the province. (PIA)
