34th Lanzones Festival opens Oct. 20

MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN, October 16 (PIA) – An array of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as, top quality gift items and souvenirs at the Agro-Industrial Trade and Tourism Fair (UGMAD) will highlight this year’s Lanzones Festival Grand Opening activities on Sunday, October 20.

The UGMAD 2013 will be joined by 85 exhibitors showcasing various products and services like the One Barangay One Product (OBOP) display, processed food and fast food, tourism services, and some corporate booths.

Other exhibitors from the Cagayan de Oro City and Bukidnon province are also expected to join the festivity.

A grand opening activity and ceremonial ribbon cutting of the UGMAD Fair will kick-off the 34thLanzones Festival.

The “Music and Kabog (Bats) Showdown” will also be staged right after the viewings of exhibits to entertain guests and visitors.

Other activities prepped up for the grand opening day include the festival run, festival parade, and a variety show.

The week-long festivity will likewise be highlighted with a lively and colorful extravaganza of traditional dances like the Kalanrakas (Charivari-Street Dancing), Inter-Agency Street Dancing Competition, Festival King and Queen, and Diwata (fairies) showdowns.

Sports competition, job fairs, docu fest, variety shows, and the “Mutya sa Buahanan Pageant” are just some of the perks lined up for the event.

Guest and visitors, meanwhile, must try the eat-all-you-can Lanzones challenge, which introduces the new and improved variety of Lanzones called camlong, a cross breed of the local variety and longkong—a variety usually grown in Thailand and Indonesia. (JCV/PIA)
