MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN, May 6 (PIA) – Responding to the demand to put in place doable nutrition plans at all levels, the National Nutrition Council 10 (NNC 10) capacitates provincial/municipal nutrition workers here in the preparation of their Annual Nutrition Action Plans.
Some 40 participants consisting of provincial/municipal action officers (P/MNAO’s), district nutrition program coordinator (DNPC), and provincial/municipal nutrition council (P/MNC) members convened in Cagayan de Oro City on April 28-30 for the three-day training workshop.
The activity helped facilitate the completion of the provincial re-entry plan and the respective municipal nutrition action plans while enhancing the program managers’ knowledge, attitudes, and skills.
Participants are likewise expected to provide technical assistance to the nutrition committee at the barangay level.
Meanwhile, the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET), composed of various agencies, will go around annually and conduct evaluation to randomly selected barangays.
A document-based evaluation reckoned from the LGU’s plan and reports, validated by interviews with various stakeholders and actual visits and weighing of at least 10 percent of the preschool children to validate improvement in the nutritional status.
Local Government Units (LGUs) earning the highest rating whether province, city, or municipality and whose score/s is above cut off is conferred with the “Green Banner Award” in recognition for their outstanding performances in addressing malnutrition. (JCV/PIA)
