Volunteers train for basic nutrition course


MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, May 6 (PIA) – To ensure achievement of their goals and effect improvement in the nutrition situation in the province, the barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) here train for the three-day basic nutrition course.


The topics covered include the rationale of the BNS program, legal mandate, roles and functions, down to the basic concepts in food and nutrition.

It likewise prepared and equipped the BNSs in performing their role and functions better by enriching their communication and advocacy skills, documentation and report keeping, time management ability, organizational and coordination skills. 

Another important input, according to the Provincial Health office (PHO), was the emphasis in contextualizing the barangay nutrition program in the local development system.

The training team includes the members of provincial nutrition committee (PNC): Telesfora Madelo, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer; Aida Chan, district nutrition program coordination (DNPC); Lilibeth E. Marines, Municipal Action officer for Catarman and other members from the DILG namely Ernie Sanchez and Vic Agcopra. (JCV/PIA)
