MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, August 27 (PIA) – Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (DRRM) action officers, health workers, social workers, police commanders, school heads, and volunteers here submit for a two-day basic camp management and community kitchen volunteers’ training on August 12-13.
Participants were oriented on the basic things they need to prepare prior, during and after a disaster with particular focus on the management of internally displaced persons (IDPs) inside the camps or evacuation centers, ensuring a fully functional and organized response from the evacuation management sub-committee.
The orientation likewise puts emphasis on the community kitchen set-up to facilitate the immediate provision of ready to eat food and in meeting the survivors’ basic nutritional requirements.
Other pre-evacuation activities involved following this are the hazard mapping, evacuation centers/camps profiling, and the organization and identification of camp managers or camp staffing.
This activity is spearheaded by the provincial government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) chair of the NDRRMC relief committee. (JCV/PIA)
