Patients avail free cataract surgical operation in Camiguin

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, January 14 (PIA) – Twenty Two (22) patients with eye problem availed recently of the free surgical operation extended by the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, held at the Camiguin General Hospital (CGH).

A team of Ophthalmologist headed by Dr. Faighar Mangkabong and Dr. Myra Grace Villanueva performed the cataract and ptyregium operation on the patients, consisting mostly of senior citizens.

“Tambayayong” or cooperation is the theme of the two-day medical outreach, as a way of giving back to the communities. They also distributed some 244 reading glasses to above 40-year old patients who have joined the medical mission.

Dr. Arvin F. Sampilo, OIC chief of hospital, meanwhile, expressed his gratitude to be considered among the project beneficiary. The doctors came from Davao and it was the foundation’s first outreach in the island-province.

Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo likewise lauded the doctors for extending their untiring efforts to the activity. (Manuel A. Jumawid/PIA)
