DTI-Camiguin intensifies price monitoring activities in 2015


MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, Jan. 28 (PIA)– Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Camiguin kick-off early its price monitoring activity for prime commodities and basic necessities here on January 20-23, 2015.

Prime Commodities are flour, canned pork and beef, instant noodles, vinegar, soy sauce and toilet soap. While Basic Necessities include canned sardines, processed milk, detergent and laundry soap, candles, salt, sugar and bread.

Aside from checking prices, the team also inspected the labels of products being sold to ensure that consumers are getting their money’s worth down to the last centavo.

According to DTI, violations of existing labeling requirements are punishable under the Consumer Act.

Initial observations bared that stores in commercial district of Mambajao are now strictly observing and putting in price labels in their respective products. (Zita M. Abellare, DTI-Camiguin, PIA Cam  iNet)
