MAMBAJAO, Camiguin Jan. 26 (PIA) — The Kahugpungan sa Masilakong Mananagat (KASAMMA) in poblacion, Sagay, Camiguin received a Dried Squid and Fish Shared Services Facility (SSF) from Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Camiguin Provincial Office on December 29, 2014.
The Shared Facility turned over include food grade stainless drying facility, vacuum packaging equipment, weighing scales, hand pressed sealers and moisture meter, is aimed at improving the product’s market capability, increasing income of fisher folks and processors, and increase employment opportunities and provide the needed services to boost their entrepreneurial activities.
KASAMMA President Fernando Ocaba and Sangguniang Bayan member Edgar Dagaraga, together with and KASAMMA Treasurer Teresita Ocaba, formally received the equipment from DTI trade promotion officer Zita Abellare.
This SSF project was implemented with the cooperation of government line agencies, the academe, the local government unit of Sagay and private organizations.
The dried squid and fish of KASAMMA are positioned as pasalubong products to local and foreign tourists in Camiguin. (Zita M. Abellare, DTI-Camiguin, PIA Cam iNet)
