DOLE turns over 1st Job Search Kiosk to Mambajao

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, May 22 — First of Northern Mindanao’s 18 enhanced job search facility known as Job Search Kiosk (JSK), was turned over to the Municipality of Mambajao, Province of Camiguin on 6 May 2015.

Witnessed by Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, the Department of Labor and Employment-X (DOLE-X) awarded a JSK during a simple ceremony held at the Mambajao Municipal Hall.

DOLE-X Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante turned-over the JSK to Mambajao Mayor Ma. Luisa D. Romualdo with the presence of her 88 Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries and Sangguniang Bayan members Reyne S. Menciano, Jaime M. Baclayo, Argenito C. Sabacajan, and Raquel B. Ranara.

“The JSK is an information portal that aims to provide information on employment and livelihood opportunities to the public for free,” Agravante said.

“There are 18 JSKs apportioned for Northern Mindanao region, the first being turned-over is for the Municipality of Mambajao, recognizing its effort for a remarkable employment facilitation rating in 2014. However, since Mambajao is the capital town, this serves as the focal point for every Camigueño,” he said in closing.

JSK helps job seekers to fast-track access to relevant information on job openings, hiring requirements of employers or upgrade their skills and designed to enable job seekers to register their skills profile and to look for suitable jobs.

In his speech, Governor Romualdo expressed his gratefulness and said, “You are lucky because gone were the days when graduates knocked from company to company under the scourging heat just to find a job. This is for your future and we owe this to DOLE.”

After actual operation test of the JSK , mayor Romualdo said that “I am amazed with the new generation system that DOLE provided. It is a great help for our new graduates and job seekers because they will be afforded access to job vacancies and relevant job information any time.”

“This is a vital step in ensuring local and employment opportunities for our constituents in the future. Thank you for giving attention to the needs of our people,” she added.

10835166_353479328196579_3735886653870425354_oMeanwhile, SPES worker and grade 10 student from Yumbing National High School, Noven Sanchez Villaber was privileged being the first in the Northern Mindanao who made access of the JSK and said that “The JSK is definitely useful to those who seek job in local and overseas labor market. Indeed, in just a click, you’ll know what you want. It is a great help to those unemployed who wish to be employed to ensure their future. I was amazed. Big thanks to DOLE.”

Statistician and regional Bureau of Local Employment cluster focal person Bernie Boy T. Salinas demonstrated the key functions and features.

The activity thereafter highlighted with the signing of the memorandum of agreement and finally concluded with the ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of Camiguin Provincnial Field Office Head Jose Errol A. Natividad, TSSD Chief Atheneus A. Vasallo, OIC-IMSD Chief Lucila S. Pulvera, and other DOLE-X staff. (Glenford C. Labial/DOLE-10)
