DTI Camiguin monitors school supplies

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, May 26 (PIA) — As the month of June enters and school opening approaches, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Camiguin, strictly monitored the supply, prices and quality of office supplies in the province.

The monitoring team conducted the visits among major establishments in here. Among the supplies that were being checked are selected brands of pad paper, notebooks, crayons, ballpens, pencils and bond paper.

The monitoring team also noted that prices of such supplies are reasonable and comparably close with the prices a year ago.

Apart from checking the prices, the team also looked into the quality and examined its compliance with specific standards and labelling requirements.

Generally, the stores being monitored are selling products at reasonable prices and complied with the specific standard requirements and suggested retail price (SRP).

Consumers are also encouraged to compare the quality of the products by checking the label before purchase.

The SRP was released nationwide by DTI three weeks before the opening of classes to ensure the welfare of consumers. (Zita M. Abellare with reports from Hazel Emphasis, DTI-Camiguin, PIACam Inet)
