DOLE 10 releases P2.17M livelihood assistance to Camiguin

MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN, May 29 – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through its Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) released livelihood assistance to seven associations, amounting to P2,170,535.00 during the 113th Labor Day on 1 May 2015 at the Mambajao Town Plaza.

The turnover was witnessed by Camiguin Provincial Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, Cam PFO Head Errol Natividad and the beneficiaries.

DOLE-10 Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante disclosed that the recipients of the livelihood assistance are seven associations with 276 beneficiaries belonged to the vulnerable sector namely: (1) Barangay Mayana Least Fishermen Association; (2) Barangay Bugang Least Fishermen Association; (3) Barangay Bacnit Farmers and Fisherfolks Tilapia Growers Association; (4) Barangay Cuña Farmers and Fisherfolks Tilapia Growers Association; (5) Baboyan sa Sagay; (6) Holy Trinity Youth Apostolate Association; and (7) Guinsiliban Coco-Sugar Producers Association.

The projects consist of mechanized fishing; modified ring nets fishing methods One Gross Ton Bandong; tilapia production; hog fattening; sustainable ducks farming project; and coconut sap/ toddy sugar.

The Accredited Co-Partners (ACP) or the program partners of this particular release are the Local Government Units of Sagay and Guinsiliban in Camiguin.

The assistance is under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), which is the DOLE’s contribution to the government’s agenda of  inclusive growth through massive job generation and poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers.

Moreover, together with the Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) in the province, the Labor Day celebration was attended by more or less 500 participants who are beneficiaries of DOLE-assisted livelihood projects, management and workers of labor laws compliant establishments, Accredited Co-Partners (ACPs) and Special Program of Employment for Students (SPES) beneficiaries.
