CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, August 7, 2015 (PIA) – In line with its objective of assuring safe, quality and controlled market trading, the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) Program of the Department of Agriculture – 10 (DA-10) turned-over the Municipal Food Terminal (MFT) to the local government unit of Catarman in the province of Camiguin on July 30, 2015.
Audy G. Maagad, Field Operations Division – 10 Supervising Agriculturist, said that the objective of the MFT is to improve the income of farmers and fisherfolks through assured market of their products and reduction of transportation cost and trading layers. He also said that this is to provide consumers with products that are safe, nutritious, affordable and are fresh from the farm and sea.
Mayor Nestor A. Jacot is thankful to have this project in their municipality. He said that this will be a great venue for the farmers and fisherfolks of the municipality who don’t have a place in the public market to sell their produce.
DA shelled out P1 Million for the project while the LGU allocated P52,632.00 which totaled to P1,052,632.00 as project cost. The FMT is located in the New Public Market of Barangay Poblacion, Catarman, Camiguin. (DA-10 RAFIS/PIA)
