Camiguin eyes on high value crops to increase vegetable production

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, December 29 (PIA) — Upland farmers in Camiguin province now use the high value vegetable crop technology to ensure good production yield.

Three areas in Mambajao, Mahinog and Sagay municipalities are now under the Community Participatory Action Research (CPAR), a collaborative project of the provincial government and the Department of Agriculture (DA) regional field office 10.

CPAR showcased different technologies on high value crops to be able to produce vegetables on commercial scale and minimize importation from the mainland.

The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) now observed surplus in vegetables like sweet pepper, tomato, including water melon, during harvest season.

PAO said majority of the produce were marketed to the mainland. (JCV/PIA)
