CATARMAN, Camiguin, January 27 — The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. 10 (DOLE-10), through its Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) paid the salaries amounting to P375,240.00 to 118 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries of Camiguin on 29 December 2015 in the Covered Court of Barangay Bonbon in Catarman, Camuigin.
DOLE-10 Cam PFO Officer In Charge Arlyn Z. Bael reported that the beneficiaries’ salaries were based on the Region’s minimum wage rates for private sector in the amount of P318.00 per day.
Bael explained that TUPAD is the Department’s Emergency Employment Program under DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).
“This is a project for the displaced workers resulting from calamities and for the unemployed and underemployed poor that will provide short-term wage employment as an immediate source of income for them and their families. Before deployment to work, the beneficiaries were oriented on Occupational Safety and Health standards, given Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) like caps, masks, pair of gloves, long-sleeved shirts, and a pair of boots and covered with the Government Service Insurance System for insurance coverage,” she said.
Maribel Rodriguez, one of the TUPAD beneficiaries expressed her gratitude to DOLE-X for the implementation of the project. “Daghan kaayong salamat sa DOLE kay nahatagan kami ug trabaho bisan sa gamay na panahon, dako na kayo ni ug tabang sa among panginabuhi. (Thank you very much to DOLE that we were given work even for just a short period, this is already a big help to our daily lives.)”
Bael conveyed to the beneficiaries that DOLE-10, under the leadership of Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante, will be ready to assist them of their future employment facilitation or labor relations needs. (Jovelyn V. Perez, DOLE 10)
