Agoho MPC benefits of Abaca Processing Shared Facility

MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN, January 29 (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Camiguin Provincial Office formally turned-over the Mobile Abaca Decorticating Machine Shared Service Facility to Agoho Multipurpose Cooperative (MPC) in Agoho, Mambajao, Camiguin.

Formally receiving the shared service facility from the DTI-Camiguin representative, Bryan Kent Rafols is the Cooperative Chairman, Godofredo Dollera; the General Store Manager, Antonio Gultiano, and the Cooperative Secretary. Felipa Villadory.

Agoho MPC is an active cooperative with more than 70 members, 60 of which are directly benefitting from the new additions of the mobile abaca decorticating machine.

The DTI Shared Service Facility provides four (4) mobile abaca decorticating machines aimed at increasing production volume and to improve productivity of abaca processing.

Previously the fibers were separated by hand and delivered from their farms to the general store, but now with the provision of decorticating machines the processing is no longer done by hands, increasing the production capacity to 100 kilos per 8 hour shift and ensuring that the demand for the current market of abaca fibers can be met.
