Operation Timbangan conducted in Camiguin during the Holy Week

MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN, March 23 (PIA) – To continue protect  consumers as well as  tourist at the height of lenten observance, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Camiguin Provincial Office spearheaded anew the conduct of Operation Timbangan in public markets and  stores here on Tuesday, 22 March 2016.

A composite team of designated officers formed the enforcement team together with DTI-Camiguin, such as the Mambajao Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) represented by the Mambajao Treasurer’s Office, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and representativesfrom DTI accredited consumer organization Hibok-hibokEmergency Assistance Radio Team (HEART) Kabalikat.

The teams accurately checked the efficiency of the weighing scales and were able to confiscate seven (7) out of one hundred (101) weighing scales tested and found defective.
DTI said four (4) defective mechanical weighing scales were confiscated because they are not fit for use, and three (3) other digital weighing scales were advised for repair by the owners.

DTI-Camiguin with the Mambajao LPCC is undertaking activities to protect consumers and ensure they get the right weight of the goods they purchase and at  right the value of their money.
