Camiguin local govt gets abaca processing equipment from DTI


MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, August 30 (PIA) – The Camiguin Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) received new abaca processing equipment from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office, this month.

The equipment assistance cost about P870,000 and is expected to boosts productivity among 110 abaca farmers and processors in Mambajao town. Included in the equipment turn-over were twining and twisting (baling) machines to match the demand in production volume.

It is now housed in a shared service facility inside the Provincial Technology Verification Center (PTVC) in Sitio Lumad, Poblacion, Mambajao. Formally receiving the processing equipment from DTI representative Eric L. Aranas were Cesar A. Sabaldana and Gene B. Casanos of the Provincial Agriculture’s Office. (Zita Maestrado-Abellare with reports from Eric L. Aranas, DTI-Camiguin/ PIA-Cam i-Net)
