CAMIGUIN, September 20 — The Department of Labor and Employment-Region 10 (DOLE-10) together with its Camiguin Provincial Field Office, hosted the Labor Education and Employment Services (LEES) Strengthening and Workers Association Forum in Camiguin province on 24 August 2016.
“LEES aims to address dynamic changes and demands of market and economy by providing labor education services,” DOLE – X Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante stated at the opening program in Mambajao town, Camiguin.
On his message, Agravante gave his appreciation to the participants who are from hotels, resorts, and restaurants, including those from micro, small, and medium enterprises in the province.
“We want to improve the labor education service that we give to workers and employers all over Region X by providing sufficient knowledge and using effective presentation skills on our LEES seminars,” Agravante said.
Meanwhile, as he explained the concept of LEES, DOLE – X Senior Labor and Employment Officer Glenford C. Labial mentioned that DOLE has designed a better way of delivering labor education through the animated cartoon infomercial which was presented to more than 90 participants from different agencies and associations.
The same video presentation shall be shown in the port of Benoni and in Camiguin airport.
“There is now an evolution of technology from the traditional way of making visual reports on cartolina and manila paper and even printing announcements of flyers. We want to maximize the information that we can give to limitless clients who are in or out of the country,” Labial said.
He also encouraged the participants to check out and download the videos on the 21 DOLE programs which contains tips and information that can be found online on youtube.com.
During the undertaking, Labial, who is also the Bureau of Labor Relations regional focal person, expressed his gratitude to Camiguin for strengthening LEES in the province. The same program was launched in Cagayan de Oro City on 8 December 2014.
On the other hand, OIC Camiguin PFO Head Brix A. Merlin delivered his opening speech to the delegates and gave his words of thanks to the local government unit (LGU)-Mambajao, headed by Mayor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, and the Provincial Capitol, led by Gov. Maria Luisa D. Romualdo, for the unending support of the government towards the department.
Merlin also initiated the re-orientation of Labor Standards and tackled about the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers.
Director Atheneus A. Vasallo further discussed about Contracting and Sub-Contracting Agreement under the provisions of Department Order No. 12 and Labor Advisory No. 10 s. 2016, pursuant to Articles 5 and 106 to 109 of the Labor Code.
An open forum activity started after the lecture and was then followed by the distribution of evaluation sheets to assess the level of satisfaction among participants of the seminar.
