MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN, January 4 (PIA) – Camiguin kicked-off its foundation anniversary with weeklong festivities to drum the celebration observed every 7th day of January.
Mural painting, arc and landmark design contests, distribution of slippers and other social services package highlight the first two days of the “Araw ng Camiguin” celebration.
Converting trash to treasure or “Trashure” is among the activities lined up for high school students, they will be visiting island’s sanitary landfill and discover innovative ways to help recycle trashes.
Other inter-school activities along with various inter-offices and barangay contests like landscaping, flower arrangement, marching band competition, and cooking contest among others fill up the week’s activities.
Local Triathlon and Fun Run are likewise organized for sports enthusiasts, while the d-day will be highlighted with the Governor’s State of the Province Address (SOPA) followed by “Pista sa Nayon” (village fiesta) themed lunch to celebrate the day as one community, one family.
The event will be capped with the search for Mr. & Ms. Teen Camiguin followed with a rave-foam party for everybody’s take. (JCV/PIA-10)
