Pinoy Aquaman set to cross Camiguin Channel

MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN, January 5 (PIA) – Renowned marathon swimmer Atty. Ingemar Macarine will lead local swimmers here in crossing the Camiguin Channel on January 7.

The challenge will start in Barangay Liong, Guinsiliban, Camiguin to Balingoan, Misamis Oriental with an estimated distance of about 6.8 kilometers, and may take 2hours and 26 minutes to cross.

Macarine did his first successful channel crossing in Basul Island to Mainland Surigao City with a 4.8 kilometers lap, three years ago.

This Saturday’s attempt will be his 25th channel to cross as a way of promoting awareness for cleaner seas.

Mambajao Local Government Unit Sports Coordinator Gilbert Grado said the event is a part of the 165th Foundation Day celebration of Camiguin which likewise seeks to promote tourism.(JCV/PIA-10)
