CAMIGUIN, April 13– To continuously improve the peace and order situation in the province, the Camiguin Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) along with the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council, whose membership include representatives from the national line agencies, all municipal mayors and civil society organizations (CSOs), recently conducted its First Quarter Meeting at Camiguin Convention Center, Mambajao, Camiguin.
Provincial Governor and concurrent PPOC Chairperson Maria Luisa D. Romualdo presided the meeting that mainly tackled the peace and order situation updates in Camiguin, human development and security committee reports on the preparations and activities pertinent to the observance of Holy Week’s Panaad, synchronized Barangay Assembly Day, and preparations to ensure a peaceful, honest and orderly Barangay and SK elections.
As a result, the joint councils approved the adoption of the three Joint Resolutions that include the authorization of the Creation of Special Action Committee under the Provincial Peace and Order Council to decide on critical matters during emergencies affecting the overall Peace and Order Situation in the Province.
PPOC also requested the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 10, through Regional Director Wilkins M. Villanueva, to conduct a barangay drug clearing One-Stop-Shop in the Province to facilitate the issuance of certifications to qualified barangay applicants.
Also, the council strongly enjoined the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Balingoan Sub-station, through PO2 Joel M. Mendez, to enforce and adopt stringent measures prohibiting or apprehending operators/owners of small-sized sea vessels or Motorized Bancas to transport passengers from Balingoan Port to any point of entry in the Island Province of Camiguin.(Maria Dannica M.
