Camiguin celebrates 50 years of feat, boundless opportunities

CAMIGUIN, January 8 (PIA) – With the theme, “Small Province, Big Future,” the province of Camiguin celebrated its 50th founding anniversary with festive events, creative contests, awarding of achievers, grand parade, live concert, fireworks display and presentation of the State of the Province Address on January 4-7.

League of Municipal Mayors President and Mambajao Mayor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said that the 50th Araw ng Camiguin highlights the pouring in of more jobs and investments in the province thus, “There is always future in Camiguin.” He also said that the provincial government is looking forward to more young Camiguingnons coming home as they will no longer seek for employment in other areas.

The celebration kicked off with the grand opening and ribbon cutting of various booths that feature the products of Camiguin and the services of national line agencies on January 4 at Ugmad Site.

To showcase the talents and inspire the youth to take part in the undertakings of the province, numerous contests were held from January 4 to 6 and these include the Inter-Elementary and High School Spelling Bee held at Ugmad Site, and Inter-High School and Kapisanan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) Trashure Competition where participants were asked to creatively produce necklaces, bracelets and other accessories out of trash.

High school students also competed in the charcoal painting, extemporaneous speech, flower arrangement, mob dance and marching band contests.

The first day of the celebration is further made vibrant with the inter-elementary dance sports competition, night fun run and live band presentation.

The municipalities of the province also exhibited their talents in cooking lechon (roasted pork) at the Ugmad Site aside from displaying their products in the Pista sa Nayon.

To further uphold good local governance, the provincial government launched the Inter-Office 5s Competition and Cong. PPR Memorial Awards for Good Local Governance. Exemplary municipal local government units (MLGUs), barangay achievers, agricultural achievers, partner national government agencies and non-government organizations of the provincial local government were also recognized.

Moreover, the provincial government also held the ground breaking ceremony of the new provincial capitol building location at Lacas, Mambajao with a total allocation of P250 million and unveiled the 50th Camiguin Founding Anniversary Marker on January 7.

Another highlight of the celebration is the grand parade of umbrellas of various national line agencies, schools, civil society organizations, businesses and non-government organizations in the province.

The Araw ng Camiguin was then capped with the State of the Province Address of Provincial Governor Maria Luisa Romualdo, fireworks display and a live concert.

With the programs, activities, projects and endless opportunities in the province, the provincial governor is optimistic that greater things await the Camiguingnons for the years to come saying, “I am looking forward for a brighter and bigger future ahead of us.”(Recthie T. Paculba/PIA10)

Camiguin PPOC to create task force on regulating firecrackers, pyrotechnic device use

CAMIGUIN, December 29 (PIA) — The Camiguin Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) is set to create a task force to oversee and implement the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in the province. 
 
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) OIC-Provincial Director Rhona P. Abadilla said during the PPOC fourth quarter meeting held recently at the Camiguin Provincial Convention Center that enactment of Republic Act No. 7183, an act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices, aims to address the increasing incidents of firecracker related injuries and casualties.

In the resolution proposed, the Philippine National Police (PNP) shall issue a permit to a trained person who shall supervise the conduct of community fireworks display, promulgate criteria for what constitutes prohibited firecrackers, enforce RA 7183, conduct information campaigns on danger of using fireworks and submit a consolidated report to the Office of the President. 
 
All other concerned agencies are also enjoined to conduct information campaign on the dangers of using fireworks.(RTP/PIA10)

kalikopanhon, maritimang seguridad ug kahilwasan sa probinsiya pinaagi sa pagpugong sa paggamit ug mga bangka sa nagkalain-laing maritimang kalapasan labi na sa pagpamirata ug terorismo, ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)- Camiguin Provincial Station nag-awhag sa mga tag-iya, operators ug mga charter parties pagparehistro sa ilang bangka ilalom sa Safety, Security and Environmental Numbering (SSEN) System kung aha ang ilang dunggoanan.
Ang PCG misaysay nga sa Disyembre 2017, aduna na’y nakaparehistro nga 1,142 nga mga bangka sa probinsiya diin 144 ang gikan sa Mahinog, 427 sa Sagay, 240 sa Catarman, 227 sa Guinsiliban ug 104 sa Mambajao.

Para marehistro, ang tag-iya o ang iyang representante mu-apply sa pinakaduol nga Coast Guard Station/Sub-Station ug ipakita ang mga kinahanglang dokumento sama sa proof of ownership, opisyal nga resibo sa engine procurement (para sa mga bag-o lang nabuhat nga bangka), certificate of vessel registry, usa ka balidong government issued nga identification card ug hulagway sa tag-iya sa bangka.
Ang SSEN permanente nang magahin sa bangka ug ang SSEN nga sertipiko balido sulod sa tulo ka tuig ug pwede kining ma-renew.

Camiguin PCG urges owners to register vessels

CAMIGUIN, December 29 (PIA) — To enhance marine environmental protection, maritime security and safety within the area by preventing the use of vessels/watchcrafts in various maritime infractions particularly piracy and terrorism, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)- Camiguin Provincial Station urges owners, operators and/or charter parties to register their vessels/watercrafts under the Safety, Security and Environmental Numbering (SSEN) System whey they are home ported.
 
The PCG reported that as of December 2017, there are 1,142 vessels/watchcrafts that were registered in the province where 144 came from Mahinog, 427 in Sagay, 240 in Catarman, 227 in Guinsiliban and 104 in Mambajao.

To register, the owner or his/her representative shall apply to the nearest Coast Guard Station/Sub-Station and present the necessary requirements such as the proof of ownership, official receipt of engine procurement (for newly built vessel), certificate of vessel registry, one valid government issued identification card and photo of the vessel owner.
 
The SSEN shall be permanently assigned to the vessels/watercrafts and the SSEN certificate is valid for three years and is renewable.
Any transfer of ownership or major alterations done on the vessels/watercrafts should be reported immediately within five days of actual transfer to the nearest Coast Guard Station/Sub-Station for updating of the vessel profile.(RTP/PIA10)

Sa bag-ohay lang nga Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) fourth quarter meeting, si PPOC Co-Chair Jurdin Jesus Romualdo miingon nga mubutang sila ug tulo ka dialysis units sa Camiguin General Hospital nga muserbisyo sa 70 ka mga dialysis nga pasyente sa probinsiya.

Matud pa niya nga tungod sa maong pasilidad, dili na kinahanglan pang mubiyahe sa bisag kinsa pang pasyente sa Camiguin gikan sa isla padulong sa Cagayan de Oro o sa uban pang lugar aron makakuha sa maong tratamento.
 
Alang usab sa cardio program sa probinsiya, gi-ambit ni Romualdo nga anaa na pu’y angiogram ug andioplasty nga ibutang sa ospital sa probinsiya.
 
Ang angiogram usa ka pagsulay aron makita unsa nga mga ugat nga ga-suplay sa kasingkasing ang napi-ot na. Kini gagamit ug X-ray aron ipakita ang ruta nga mapa sa blood vessels ug mga ugat sa kasingkasing. Ang angioplasty sa laing bahin, usa ka tratamento nga gabuhaton sa usa ka doktor nga naglakip sa pagsuksok sa gamay nga mapaburot nga lobo sulod sa gapi-ot nga ugat.

Camiguin to boost health facilities

CAMIGUIN, December 29 (PIA) — The Camiguin provincial government is set to address the medical needs of Camiguingnons as it boosts the medical facilities of Camiguin General Hospital.
 
During the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) fourth quarter meeting held recently, PPOC Co-Chair Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said that they will be putting up three dialysis units in Camiguin General Hospital that would serve 70 dialysis patients in the province. 
 
He said that having the facility in the province will no longer require any Camiguingnon to travel from the island to Cagayan de Oro City and other areas just to have the treatment.

As for the province’s cardio program, Romualdo shared that andiogram and andioplasty will be made available to any Camiguingnon in the province’s hospital. 
 
An angiogram is a test to find out which arteries supplying the heart have become narrowed and it uses X-rays to show ‘route maps’ of blood vessels and arteries in the heart. The angioplasty on the other hand, is a treatment performed by a doctor which involves inserting a small inflatable balloon into a narrowed artery.
 
The addition of such medical facilities are geared towards giving more comfort to the patients in the province.(RTP/PIA10)

“Standard protective motorcycle helmets are appropriate types of helmets for motorcycle riders that comply with the specifications issued by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) (Ang standard protective motorcycle helmets mao ang angay nga klase sa mga helmet alang sa mga drayber sa motor nga subay sa mga detalye nga giisyu sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI),” giingon ni Romualdo dala dasig sa sa mga miyembro sa PPOC nga mutabang sa pag-apod-apod sa impormasyon kabahin sa pagsuot ug tarong nga helmet.

Camiguin urges motorcycle drivers to wear helmets

CAMIGUIN, December 11 (PIA) – To secure and safeguard the Camiguingnons, particularly the operators or drivers of motorcycles and their passengers, from the ruinous and extremely injurious effects of fatal or life threatening accidents and crashes, the provincial government here will strictly implement the Motorcycle Helmet Act or Republic Act No. 10054 starting January 2018.

 

During the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) Fourth Quarter Meeting on December 7 at the Provincial Convention Center, PPOC Co-Chair Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said that all of the motorcycle drivers should wear helmets and minors are banned from sitting in front of a motorcycle rider.

 

“Standard protective motorcycle helmets are appropriate types of helmets for motorcycle riders that comply with the specifications issued by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI),” Romualdo said as he urged the members of PPOC to help in disseminating the law on wearing of proper helmet.

As for the riding minors, Romualdo said that it is unlawful for any person to drive a two-wheeled motorcycle with a child on board on public roads where there is heavy volume of vehicles, high density of fast moving vehicles or a speed limit of more than 60/kph is imposed.

 

These rules are applicable unless the child passenger can comfortably reach his/her feet on the standard foot peg of the motorcycle and reach around and grasp the waist of the motorcycle rider.(RTP/PIA10)

Cebuano News: DOLE-X gahatag ug P1M alang sa panginabuhiang proyekto sa Camiguin

GUINSILIBAN, Camiguin, December 1 — Ang Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X)- Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) bag-ohay lang mihatag sa Kabuhayan Program financial grants nga mukabat sa P1,102,755 alang sa unom ka mga benepisyaryong organisasyon sa Cantaan Centennial Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CCMPC).

Si DOLE-Cam PFO Chief Emmanuel G. Toledo miingon nga ang pinansyal nga hinabang gihatag alang sa mga proyekto sa motor parts (P250,000), agricultural business (P200,000), backyard piggery livelihood (P130,000), deep sea fishing (P250,000), fish vending (P110,000), and amakan making and consumer store project (P162,755).
