Cebuano News: TESDA dad-on ang mobile training lab sa Camiguin

CAMIGUIN, November 29 (PIA)—Ang Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) andam nang dad-on ang ilahang skills training program sa lagyong lugar sa probinsiya pinaagi sa paglagda sa Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) sa gobernador sa probinsiya, TESDA ug Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

Si TESDA Provincial Director Nazario Villamor, Jr. miingon nga ang Camiguin ginganlan isip usa sa napulo ka mga pobreng probinsiya sa nasud niadtong 2013 busa gitagaan pagtagad sa TESDA ang probinsiya nga makadawat sa Mobile Training Laboratory (MTL).

TESDA brings mobile training lab to Camiguin

CAMIGUIN, November 29 (PIA) – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is set to bring its skills training program to remote areas in the province with the upcoming signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of the provincial governor, TESDA and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

TESDA Provincial Director Nazario Villamor, Jr. said that Camiguin has been named as one of the ten poorest provinces in the country in 2013 thus, TESDA prioritizes the province to be the recipient of the Mobile Training Laboratory (MTL).

“The MTLs are training facilities can be easily transported from one place to another within the province. It is composed of four movable compact boxes on a trailer that includes tools, equipment, training package and multi-media equipment and accessories,” said Villamor.

Among the courses that will be taught under the MTL facility include Appliance Repair, Bread and Pastry, Cookery, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Food Processing, Plumbing, and Small Engine Repair.

Six MTLs shall be fabricated and delivered to the province which is also funded by the PAGCOR.(RTP/PIA10)

Ang mga nagkalain-laing tanyag sa pampubliko ug pribadong Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) nga musalmot sa TSWP gipapasa na niadtong Setyembre 7, 2017.

Ang mga qualification titles/kurso naglakip sa Computer Systems Servicing NC II nga aduna’y 30 slots, Cookery NC II (20 slots), Driving NC II (21 slots), Plumbing NC I (15 slots) ug Trainers Methodology Level I (15 slots).

 

Ang TESDA-10 migahin ug P749,700 nga badyet para sa training cost, assessment fee ug per capita cost para sa lima ka qualification titles/courses.

 

Ang training provider mapili base sa mga pamaagi nga giplastado sa TESDA ug ang tender document makuha gikan sawww.region10@tesda.gov.ph.

Si Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Provincial Manager Napoleon Bael miingon nga aduna’y kasarangang 78 ka mga pasahero kada flight sa airport ug ang maong gidaghanon wala miubos maski pa nga nahuman na ang peak season.

Camiguin cites vast ASEAN opportunities, reaps initial gains

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, August 30 (PIA)—Increase in tourism by 11 percent, coming in of a fast craft by November and boost of flights from Cebu to Camiguin by December are among the major developments that the provincial government identified as the positive effects of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the province.

 

Mambajao Municipal Mayor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo shared during the ASEAN Multi-Sectoral Forum on August 25 that the province, being able to earn the 10th spot in the most competitive province throughout the country, has remarkably shown economic dynamism.

 

“Economic dynamism means that we are ready in ASEAN and all the country to receive investors in our LGU (local government unit),” the mayor stressed.

 

He further said that if the country wants to be competitive with ASEAN, it should consider an open economy since such will open doors for boundless opportunities especially on generating jobs.

Provincial developments

 

When it comes to economic opportunities, the mayor shared that they are now expecting a lot of investors coming in to the province including two hotels, supermarket, a drug store and more.

 

They are also repairing the airport’s runway to accommodate the flocking of local and foreign tourists in the area.

 

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Provincial Manager Napoleon Bael said that they are currently accommodating an average of 78 passengers per flight and such number has not decreased even if it’s past the peak season already.

 

Aside from improving the airport and seaports in the area, the provincial government also plans to work on wireless local area networking that will hasten up all sorts of communication in the province.

Program for the children

 

As to the language proficiency, Romualdo said that they will be opening a speech laboratory on September “to give exact pronunciation and diction; to prepare for ASEAN.”

 

Such laboratories will commence in central schools and by next year, the provincial government is targeting to put up the facility in all schools in Camiguin as well as in the barangays.

 

There will also be health programs to be implemented to further decrease the 4 percent malnutrition of children in the province to at least 1 percent.

Camiguin names provincial rep for TESDA idols

CAMIGUIN, June 28 — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)- Camiguin Provincial Office names Connie B. Adajar, general manager of Bahay Bakasyunan sa Camiguin as the provincial nominee for the Search for 2017 Idols ng TESDA.

 

Adajar is endorsed for the wage-employed category where there were only four nominees made it to the Regional Search. In the contest proper, only three nominees came; two from the province of Bukidnon and one from Camiguin.

The Regional Search was held recently at the Function Hall of TESDA in Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City.

The wage-employed category is open to any Filipino graduate currently working in a field related to the TESD certificate he or she has earned and receives a pay check from an employer for the last three years.

 

The Search for Idols ng TESDA aims to give recognition to graduates of TESD programs who have attained skills excellence and success in their chosen occupations and contributed to the economic growth in their communities.

 

Provincial winners will receive a certificate of recognition issued by the regional office and the regional winners shall each receive a certificate of recognition, trophy and P5,000 cash prize.(Elwin Artemio Barquez Jr./RTP/PIA10)

Camiguin set to host 2016 Palarong Pampook

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, September 28 (PIA) – The island-province is set to host the 2016 Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) meet this 12-16 December.

It is a gathering of student athletes from around the region otherwise known as the Palarong Pampook, consisting of district champions from the elementary to high school levels.

The office of Governor Maria Luisa D. Romualdo said they are expecting around 7000 guests during the week to include students, teachers, and parents.

The athletes will be distributed in different schools and the different towns will host the games.

Preparations are now being carried out with the Camiguin provincial government acting as chair of the committee and the Department of Education as the co-chair. (JCV/PIA-10)

DOLE-Camiguin intensifies advocacy on career guidance

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, June 28 — The Department of Labor and Employment spearheaded a Provincial DOLE- Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – Career Guidance Network (CGN) Joint Mid-Year Performance Assessment on 21 June 2016 in Mambajao, Camiguin.

DOLE-10 Camiguin Officer-In-Charge, Arlyn Z. Bael said the activity was attended by some of its four PESO managers and staff from different five local government units (LGUs) and also with the six career guidance counselors from different schools in the province.

Bael said that the PESO-CGN officers are planning to reconstitute themselves and at the same time intensify the advocacy on career guidance, especially to elementary guidance counselors.

The PESO CGN current officers are anticipating the upcoming in Career Guidance Week on July 2016.

DOLE-10 Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante said that under the Philippine Labor and Employment Plan 2011-2016, job-skills mismatch can be managed by promoting better coordination between employers, academe, and government, and by strengthening both public and private labor market exchange institutions, especially at the local level.

“This also prescribes for the enhancement of human capital through education and training and the provision of career advocacy as part of the reform package on employment facilitation,” Agravante said.

Bael, meanwhile, elaborated that Career Guidance refers to organized and systematic efforts designed to influence various aspects of career development of client groups such as the grade school, high school, and college students, generally covering topics on career information, activities to enhance self-esteem, career planning, job placement, etc.

LGU offers med scholarship

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, July 25 (PIA) – Grooming local doctors in hope to install permanent medical officers here, the local government unit of Mambajao is offering scholarship assistance to constituents eager to pursue studies and careers in the field of medicine.

The LGU initially sets aside P400,000.00 fund for the program, with corresponding approved ordinance.

Mayor Maria Luisa D. Romualdo invites interested students to take this opportunity, not only to further themselves but to be of service to the community as well.

This is hoped to address the recurring problem of finding doctors that are willing to work and stay in public health service.

Meanwhile, a P1.5 million budget was also appropriated this year from the Special Education Fund (SEF) to strengthen the public elementary and secondary schools.(JCV/PIA)

Camiguin runs EHCP evaluation in schools

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, June 8 (PIA) — All 55 elementary schools here have recently undergone evaluation for the Essential Health Care Package (EHCP) implementation to sustain efforts in promoting health and hygiene values and habits among school children.

Actual evaluation results bared that 31 or fifty six percent (56%) of the schools evaluated shows notable efforts in implementation.

This means, the students with the supervision of the teachers, diligently adheres to the tooth brushing and hand washing schedule.

Apart from the regular group activity, the provincial evaluation team also checks on the presence of health corners, functional drinking and wash facilities in schools.

EHCP Provincial Program Coordinator Thelma G. Dagpin said the program is on seventh year now and they have been going around for the evaluation regularly, at least twice in a year.

“We do pre and post evaluation to ensure it’s been carried out well, as well as, name outstanding implementers to encourage non-performing schools full compliance,” she said.

As support to the program the provincial local government (PLGU) regularly distributes basic supplies like toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, lice shampoo, lice comb, and nail cutter to all public elementary school children including those at the day care level.

This project was first introduce by Fit for School Foundation and sustained by the PLGU to address the nagging problem of absences among school children due to toothache.

To date, the prevalence rate of dental problem among elementary school children in Camiguin is still high, based on the 2013-2014 school record of the Department of Education. (JCValcorza/PIA)
