NEDA underscores Camiguin’s economic dev’t, track in ASEAN forum


MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, August 30 (PIA)— To lay down the foundation for inclusive growth, a high-trust society and a globally competitive knowledge economy in the province, the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA)-10 presented the AmBisyon Natin 2040 during the ASEAN Multi-Sectoral Forum on August 25 at the Provincial Convention Center.


Peleta Abejo, senior economic development specialist of NEDA-10, shared that such long-term vision for the country highlights “Malasakit” or enhancing the social fabric, “Pagbabago” or the inequality-reducing transformation and “Patuloy na Pag-Unlad” or the increasing growth potential.


In the province, Abejo said that the average gross domestic product is 6.3 percent and out of three, there is only one poor Camiguingnon with less than P1,000 monthly income.

Support to SGDs

To become non-poor, each household in Camiguin should at least earn P21,678 per annum.


NEDA-10 also reported that there was a 22-23 percent decrease in poverty incidence and 24.9 percent to less than 20 percent reduce in unemployment.


As to encouraging the Camiguingnons on fostering a better life, Abejo cited the 17 sustainable development goals which include no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure.


She also added sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace, justice and strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals.


With AmBisyon Natin 2040, NEDA envisions the country that “By 2040, the Philippines shall be a prosperous predominantly middle-class society where no one is poor. Our peoples will enjoy long and healthy lives, are smart and innovative, and will live in a high-trust society.”(RTP/PIA10)


Cebuano News: Camiguin gasiguro sa suporta sa ASEAN info nga kampanya


MAHINOG, Camiguin, August 30 (PIA) – Ang mga lokal nga opisyales diri gisiguro ang ilang suporta sa mga kampanya kabahin sa Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) nga impormasyon nga gipangulohan sa Philippine Information Agency (PIA) niadtong Agosto 25 sa ASEAN Info Kiosk Launching sa pantalan sa Benoni.


Si Mambajao Vice Mayor Roldan Chan miingon nga ang maong kiosk dili lamang makatabang sa mga turista sa lugar kay mamahimo usab kining dakong tabang sa mga estudyante sa ilang research, assignments ug uban pang kalihokan.


Iya usab gidugang nga sa pagmugna sa maong kiosk, dili na maglisud ang mga magtutudlo sa pagpaambit ug kahibalo sa ilang mga estudyante.


“The kiosk will also bring closer to the people the government plans, programs and projects (Ang maong kiosk magpaduol sa mga plano, programa ug proyekto sa gobyerno ngadto sa mga katawhan),” giingon ni Chan.

Sa iyang bahin, si Mahinog Municipal Mayor Rogerio Acle miingon nga ang kagamhanang lokal mapasalamaton nga gimugna sa PIA ang maong kiosk sa ilang lugar kay makatabang kini sa pagpaila sa Camiguin ug sa mga kinaiyahan niini.


Miingon usab si Acle nga ang probinsiya, gikan sa mga opisyales sa kinatas-ang posisyon padulong na sa lebel sa barangay, kanunay nga gasuporta sa mga kalihokan sa ASEAN kay gatabang usab kini nga abrihan ang mga ganghaan sa mga kahigayonan sa lugar.


Ang kiosk nga gilusad sa pantalan sa Benoni mao ang ika-92 nga kiosk nga gitukod sa tibuok nasud sa PIA aron mapahait pa ang kahibalo sa ASEAN, ug ang socioeconomic ug kultural nga benepisyo nga makuha sa nasud sa maong asosasyon.(RTP/PIA10)

Camiguin ensures support for ASEAN info campaigns


MAHINOG, Camiguin, August 30 (PIA)— Local officials here ensured support to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) information campaigns of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) during the ASEAN Info Kiosk Launching at the Port of Benoni, here on August 25.


Mambajao Vice Mayor Roldan Chan said that the kiosk will not only help the tourists in the area as it will be a great tool for students especially on their research, assignments and other activities.


He also said that with the existence of the kiosk, teachers will not have a hard time in imparting knowledge to their learners.

“The kiosk will also bring closer to the people the government plans, programs and projects,” Chan stressed.


For his part, Mahinog Municipal Mayor Rogerio Acle said that the local government is thankful that the PIA has initiated the establishment of a kiosk in their area since it will help in promoting Camiguin and all its resources.


Acle also shared that the province, from the highest seated officials down to the barangay level, has been supporting ASEAN activities as it opens various doors of opportunities in the area.


The kiosk launched in the Port of Benoni is the 92nd kiosk launched all throughout the country by the PIA to heighten awareness on ASEAN, and the socioeconomic and cultural benefits that the country could gain from the association.(RTP/PIA10)

Camiguin joins the country’s ASEAN Landmark Lighting


MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, August 8 (PIA)—As one of the 50 cities and provinces around the country chosen to participate and spearhead the ASEAN Landmark Lighting, the provincial government here conducted various activities to show their commitment to continuously accept the challenge to become one with the vision of ASEAN on August 8.


“Our Province aims to become a strong partner of the country and of the Association of South East Asian Nations in order to encourage and engage the world to achieve the much desired change towards a better world,” Governor Maria Luisa Romualdo said.


The governor also stressed that the province’s ability to pull off such event is one of the proofs that Camiguin has become champion in almost all facets especially in being able to rise and move forward while preserving the natural resources.


Furthermore, during the said event, the provincial government conducted a food bazaar, Inter High School Balak Contest (poem presentation), ASEAN Nation Parade, ASEAN Landmark Lighting, folk dance presentation, mass dancing, fireworks display, launching of the Lanzones Festival 2017 Photo Gallery, Inter High School Harana Contest, and Live Concert and Party.


Various schools, offices and institutions graced the event along with the hundreds of residents of the province.


Participants of the parade brought with them flaglets of the ASEAN country members and the children were clad in the national costumes of the ASEAN countries.


The ASEAN landmark was lighted at 7PM tailed by the fireworks display which lasted for a few minutes.(RTP/PIA10)
