CAMIGUIN, May 25 — In line with Section 30, Rule V of the Rules and Regulations Implementing RA 10742 (Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act 2015) regarding the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Mandatory Training, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)- Provincial Office of Camiguin partnered with Camiguin Polytechnic State College (CPSC) as the service provider or local resource institute for the whole implementation of the training.
The CPSC handled the training for newly elected SK officials into two clusters of the province on May 23 with contingents from the municipalities of Catarman, Guinsiliban and Sagay, and on May 24 with the SK officials from Mahinog and Mambajao.
Fifty-eight SK chairpersons and 387 SK councilors with a total of 445 newly-elected SK officials of the province were given basic modules on governance for them to be better equipped upon the assumption of their official function as youth leaders on June 30, 2018.
Topics given include decentralization and local governance, history of the SK and the SK Reform Act also known as Republic Act 10472, meetings and resolutions, planning and budgeting and RA 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Prior to the activity, a Provincial Management Team was also created by virtue of Executive Order to oversee the efficient and effective implementation of the Training throughout the province.
The Provincial Management Team is composed of the DILG Provincial Director along with the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers, Municipal and Provincial Local Youth Development Officers, Representative from Local Resource Institute and Representative from the National Youth Commission. The DILG Provincial Office also designated a focal person to act as secretariat to the Provincial Management Team.
It is hoped that with the intense training, the new breed of SK Leaders will become more effective in performing their respective mandates.(DILG Camiguin/RTP/PIA10)
