Agri-dept releases P2.5M for livelihood projects in Guinsiliban town

GUINSILIBAN, Camiguin, May 18 — To increase the income among farmers and rural women, the Department of Agriculture (DA)– Regional Field Office 10 through the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BuB) Program releases P2.5 million to implement livelihood projects such as native chicken production, duck raising and organic feed production in Guinsiliban, Camiguin.

DA-10 OIC-Regional Director Carlene C. Collado, CPA recently turned over the check to Municipal Accountant Emmalinda G. Parian in behalf of the local government unit (LGU).

RTP20180521b.jpgThe total project cost is approximately P2.7  million, of which Php249,999 is the LGU’s counterpart.

Aside from providing assistance to the marginalized farmers, the LGU looks forward in helping increase the supply of poultry products in the municipality and even its adjacent towns.

The projects will be managed by different associations in Barangay Butay with the support of the municipal agriculture office include the native chicken production by the South Poblacion Rural Improvement Club Association, duck raising by Liong Rice Farmers Association and organic feed production by Butay Farmer’s Association.(DA10/RTP/PIA10)

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, August 7, 2015 (PIA) – In line with its objective of assuring safe, quality and controlled market trading, the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) Program of the Department of Agriculture – 10 (DA-10) turned-over the Municipal Food Terminal (MFT) to the local government unit of Catarman in the province of Camiguin on July 30, 2015.

Audy G. Maagad, Field Operations Division – 10 Supervising Agriculturist, said that the objective of the MFT is to improve the income of farmers and fisherfolks through assured market of their products and reduction of transportation cost and trading layers. He also said that this is to provide consumers with products that are safe, nutritious, affordable and are fresh from the farm and sea.

Mayor Nestor A. Jacot is thankful to have this project in their municipality. He said that this will be a great venue for the farmers and fisherfolks of the municipality who don’t have a place in the public market to sell their produce.

DA shelled out P1 Million for the project while the LGU allocated P52,632.00 which totaled to P1,052,632.00 as project cost. The FMT is located in the New Public Market of Barangay Poblacion, Catarman, Camiguin. (DA-10 RAFIS/PIA)
