Camiguin gears up for Lanzones Festival 2018

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, Oct. 10 (PIA)—With the theme, “Kinaiyahan atong Ampingan, Kalamboan alang sa Tanan (Care for Resources, Development for All),” the Provincial Government of Camiguin bares the lined-up activities for the 39th Camiguin Lanzones Festival.

PPOC, PADAC meetingProvincial Tourism Officer Candice Naomi Dael said the month-long festivity kicked off with the visual merchandising of all establishments and Kalanrakas sa Kabataan at Sagay town on October 1. On October 21, sports enthusiasts are urged to join the 39th Lanzones Festival Marathon at Cong. PPR Tourism and Sports Complex.

On the same day, the provincial government will also hold the Lanzones Festival Farm Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting as well as the Camiguin Lanzones Mini Museum Opening, Historical Site Declaration.

Lanzones Festival 2018Festive umbrellas will be displayed through the Ag Sadya Kiraw Festival Grand Parade which will also feature the Mutya sa Buwahanan candidates. The activity will be followed by the opening of the Agro-Industrial-Tourism Trade Fair Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Viewing at the Ugmad Site.

On October 22, kids will have the chance to show their talents through the Kids Age Group Swimming Competition at Cong. PPR Tourism and Sports Complex and Kalanrakas sa Kabataan at Guinsiliban and Mahinog Plaza.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will host the Jobs Fair Docufest and DOLE Clinic on this day at Ugmad Site and Mambajao Municipal Hall.

The Department of Education (Deped) will also take part in the celebration through hosting the DepEd Day “Camiguin Senior High School In-Focus” on October 23 with a back-to-back show of Fatima College of Camiguin’s “FCC Sikat.”

The Provincial/Municipal Social Welfare and Development Info Caravan, Daos Ki! and Buahanan Octoberfest, and Mutya sa Buahanan 2018 Talent and Corporate Awards Night will highlight the festivity on October 24.

On October 25, tourists and locals can enjoy the Governor’s Cup Tennis Championship, Farmer’s Day, Datu Daw Bai Ta Buwahanan and Diwata Daw Tayamtayam Showdown, Globe Night, and Everybody’s Night- Lechon Festival.

October 26 will be filled with the “Pasigarbo sa Kurso” of Camiguin Polytechnic State College and Mutya sa Buahanan Beauty Pageant at Ugmad Site.

Highlights of the annual festival will take place on October 27 and these include the Street Dancing Competition which will be held at Mambajao 1914 Road to Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Provincial Office, Pasigarbo sa Isla, Inter-Agency Camiguin Lanzones Ground Presentation, Mr. Iron Man 2018 Body Building Competition, Governor’s Cup Tennis Championship, Kalanrakas sa Kabataan, and Online Photo Contest Declaration and Awarding of Winners.

On the same day, the provincial government will also hold the Visual Merchandizing Declaration and Awarding of Winners, Mugna: Art Competition Awarding, Swimming and Tennis Awarding of Winners, and the Daos Ki! and Buahanan October Fest: Everybody’s Night- Food Safari.

Provincial Governor Maria Luisa Romualdo said the activities are geared with enough security personnel as the Philippine National Police (PNP) also augmented their police personnel to tighten security in the entire island throughout the month-long festivity. (RTP/PIA10)
