CAMIGUIN, July 21 (PIA)—As a celebration of the 39th ‘National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week slated annually on July 17-21, the province of Camiguin through its Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices conducted various activities to underscore the role of persons with disability (PWDs) in nation building, and uphold their rights and privileges.
To kick off the event, the Mambajao MSWDO held a gift giving activity at the Mambajao Municipal Building Lobby on July 14 aside from conducting the PWD Got Talent on the same day.
Various PWDs also showcased their talents in the Slogan and Poster Making Contest.
PSWDO said that such event is observed yearly in the province to stimulate public awareness on the issue and problems of disability as well as encourage every community member to take active responsibility in the upliftment of the economic and social conditions of all PWDs in the province.
This year’s theme focuses on the realization of the fundamental freedoms and rights of PWDs as provided for in existing international mandates and national laws.(RTP/PIA10)
