Crime rate drops, PNP Camiguin

CAMIGUIN, Oct. 17 (PIA)–With the augmented police personnel, strengthened measures to safeguard the area and intensified advocacy on various laws, the Camiguin Provincial Police Office reported crime rate drop from 138 in 2017 to 89 in 2018.
Crime rate in Camiguin.jpgDuring the Joint Meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) on October 9, Provincial Director PSSupt Robert Roy Bahian said the highest index crimes were recorded in Mambajao with 31.
Other towns marked minimal index crimes such as Mahinog with 21, Sagay, 15, Catarman 12 and Guinsiliban, 9.
Bahian said the most committed crime is physical injury with 13 reported cases followed by theft (3), robbery (3) and rape (1).
PNP-Camiguin also acted on illegal gambling arresting 35 persons where 8 were involved in illegal numbers game and 27 on other forms of illegal gambling. They have also conducted 419 operations, confiscating a total of Php5,498.50.
On drug-clearing operations, Bahian said they have already cleared 28 barangays out of the 50 drug-affected barangays as of October 5, 2018. Sagay only needs to clear two more barangays for the area to be declared as the first drug-free municipality in the region.
Aside from their usual operations, PNP-Camiguin also visits barangays, schools and even houses to inform the Camiguingnons on the existing laws particularly on physical abuse, violence against women and their children, terrorism, theft, rape and other crimes. (RTP/PIA10)

CAMIGUIN, December 29 (PIA) — Ang Camiguin Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) andam nang maghimo ug task force nga mulantaw ug mu-implementar sa paggamit sa mga pabuto sa probinsiya.
 
Si Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) OIC-Provincial Director Rhona P. Abadilla miingon niadtong PPOC fourth quarter meeting nga gipahigayon bag-ohay lang sa Camiguin Provincial Convention Center nga ang enactment sa Republic Act No. 7183, ang akto nga ga-regular sa pagbaligya, pag-manufacture, pagpang-apod-apod ug paggamit sa mga pabuto, nagtumong nga matubag ang gataas nga insidente sa kadaot ug mga naangol tungod sa pabuto.

Sa resolusyon nga gitanyag, ang Philippine National Police mao’y mu-isyu ug permit sa usa ka trained nga tao kinsa musuperbisar sa pagpahigayon ug community fireworks, magproklamar ug kriterya sa maglangkob sa pabuto nga did-an, magpatuman sa RA 7183, magpahigayo’g information campaigns sa katalagman sa paggamit ug pabuto, ug maghatag sa consolidated nga report sa Opisina sa Presidente.

Camiguin PPOC to create task force on regulating firecrackers, pyrotechnic device use

CAMIGUIN, December 29 (PIA) — The Camiguin Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) is set to create a task force to oversee and implement the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in the province. 
 
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) OIC-Provincial Director Rhona P. Abadilla said during the PPOC fourth quarter meeting held recently at the Camiguin Provincial Convention Center that enactment of Republic Act No. 7183, an act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices, aims to address the increasing incidents of firecracker related injuries and casualties.

In the resolution proposed, the Philippine National Police (PNP) shall issue a permit to a trained person who shall supervise the conduct of community fireworks display, promulgate criteria for what constitutes prohibited firecrackers, enforce RA 7183, conduct information campaigns on danger of using fireworks and submit a consolidated report to the Office of the President. 
 
All other concerned agencies are also enjoined to conduct information campaign on the dangers of using fireworks.(RTP/PIA10)
